Concentration

For this piece, I used the contrast between color and black to create the concentration.  My unit form is concentrated in the area at the top of the design.  The color adds texture and makes the black really pop off the page.  I used a kind of of water color paint called gouache to create the texture of the color.  As well as adding texture, the color also adds to how the design is viewed.  This design can be seen from many different points such as a fire burning, paint dripping (color over black or black over color), and as the interior of a cave.  It is a very versatile piece and really catches to viewers eye by causing them to stop and think.

Contrast

For this design, I used direction, size and gravity to create contrast.  Each of my shapes are turning or "toppling" in a different direction.  They mostly face away from each other and I wanted them to be kind of haphazard because this gives the effect that they are falling.  In this way I brought in gravity to my design.  I wanted to give my shapes the appearance that they were being poured out of something and falling through the air.  Lastly, the size creates contrast  in the design through the alteration between big and small. This also helps to make the design more interesting.

Anamoly

In anomaly, I decided to  use very square dull boxes and alter them in the center of the design as though the boxes were cloth and had been torn.  The tares in the middle of the design help to break up the monotony by making the the dull boxes more interesting.  They also alter the design so it is not so much of the same thing.

Gradation

For gradation, I used a plus structure that moves out, away for the center and in the structure I used the first letter of my name, I, as my unit form.  In this way I created a gradation structure that moves your eye gradually out.  This design creates interest through its multiple designs within a design.  The I's of course create a design but also the squares formed by the space between the I's also creates a gradating unit form in the design.
